What is Domaining and Where do I Begin?

Every day, thousands of domains expire and become available for public purchase. Some of these domains end up selling for thousands at public auction. Domaining involves the acquisition of premium domain names which are expiring soon or pending deletion. Various companies manage their own collections of expiring domains. Lists of these domains are published daily and available for public download at the registrars’ sites.

How can I find expired domains for sale?

There are three major expired registry vaults that auction expired and deleting domain names, the leaders being namejet.com, snapnames.com and pool.com. The problem is that the lists are vast and it is nearly impossible to find brandable domains relevant to your niche.

Domain Uprasier is a sophisticated parsing engine that searches through the extensive expiry lists, which are typically over 10,000 domains per day, to seek out dictionary words and desirable combinations of dictionary words. It filters out hyphenated, numerated and unmemorable domain names. It also finds any domains that are five letters or less.

What should I look for when choosing a domain?

A good domain can be easily remembered, is associated with your niche, has a good history, a positive page rank and is well aged. These are all invaluable characteristics for achieving better search engine keyword ranking.

Well aged domains and domains with good pagerank typically rank higher in search engine results and therefore are more desirable domains. Additionally, age is a determining factor for sorting out domains with negative history such as spam. Pagerank typically indicates the quality of backlinks pointing to a domain and helps you to estimate its traffic.

How much do expired domain names typically cost?

When you join a domain auction, you must enter your starting price which will typically be required to have a minimum value between $29-$69 depending upon the registrar. If you are the only buyer in the auction at the buy-in deadline, the domain will be released to you for that price which includes your domain registration fee. Otherwise, it works like any other auction and can go for as high as people are willing to bid.

Many valuable domain names are not auctioned because they go unnoticed by buyers due to the extensive number of domains in a disorganized, unparsed list. Domain Upraiser will isolate the brandable names and quality domains making them easier for you to find.
